چکیده
A 37-year-old North-Indian woman with type-2-diabetes mellitus was enrolled in a clinical study to establish association of promoter mutation ˗132G>A of IAPP (Amylin) gene and hypertension associated with type-2-diabetes mellitus. Patient was diagnosed having type2 diabetes mellitus at the age of 29 years and was diagnosed having hypertension 3 weeks prior to the study enrolment. Her family history was limited to her mother having diabetes. Patient had a BMI of 26.4 kg/m2 at enrolment and being treated with insulin, statins and ACEinhibitor.

Identification of a Novel CLCNKB Mutation in an Iranian Family with Bartter Syndrome Type 3.
Bartter syndrome (BS) is a group of uncommon genetic disorders of reabsorption of salt in the cortical thick ascending limb (TAL) of the Henle's loop, typically distinguished by metabolic alkalosis, salt loss, hypokalemia, hyperreninemic hyperaldosteronism and normal blood pressure. Bartter syndrome type 3, recognized as a classic BS (CBS), occurs because of mutations in CLCNKB gene. We enroll...
متن کاملIdentification of a Novel Arylsulfatase B Gene Mutation in Three Unrelated Iranian Mucopolysaccharidosis Type-VI Patients with Different Phenotype Severity
Background: Mucopolysaccharidosis type-VI (MPS-VI), which is inherited as an autosomal recessive trait, results from the deficiency of N-acetylgalactosamine 4-sulfatase (arylsulfatase B) activity and the lysosomal accumulation of dermatan sulfate. In this study, ARSB mutation analysis was performed on three unrelated patients who were originally from the West Azerbaijan province of Iran. Method...
متن کاملThe Effect of Exercise Training Intensity and Alpha-Lipoic Acid Supplement on IAPP Gene Expression in the Pancreas in Type 2 Diabetic
Background: The formation of islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP) have been proposed for d increased b-cell apoptosis in type 2 diabetes. Exercise training plays a protective role against diabetes. Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a powerful biological antioxidant. However, the role of exercise training and ALA on IAPP are not well understood. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of...
متن کاملFamily screening for a novel ATP7B gene mutation, c.2335T>G, in the South of Iran
Background Wilson disease (WD) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder, which leads to copper metabolism, due to mutations in ATP7B gene. The gene responsible for WD consists of 21 exons that span a genomic region of about 80 kb and encodes a copper transporting P-type ATPase (ATP7B), a protein consisting of 1465 amino acids. Identifying mutation in ATP7B gene is important to find carrier i...

Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is an autosomal co-dominant disorder of lipid metabolism, caused by mutations in LDL receptor gene. The penetrance of FH is almost 100%, meaning that half of the offspring of affected parents born with disease. The patients are at risk of premature coronary heart disease (CHD). There is no report about the molecular basis of FH in Iran. Identification of mutat...
